Why Casa is More than Pasta

Casa Domenico has been home to many girls nights. Located on Brock street, Casa’s diverse menu, fantastic cocktail and wine selection, friendly servers and low-key ambiance is a perfect spot to share a meal.

Most recently, I arrive early and wait at the bar for a friend and her many birthday guests. After an espresso rum shot to warm up and a glass of white (Appleby Sauvignon Blanc), everyone arrives and I can’t wait to get my hands on all the carbs.*

Food Choices: When I mention I am going to Casa, almost everyone I know exclaims,”you HAVE to get the eggplant!” That would be the Melanzane alla Parmigiana: breaded baked eggplant filled with mozzarella, asiago and parmigiano cheese and basil tomato sauce (I plan to go back for this dish one day). The app I typically go for is the Arancinifried fontina cheese and prosciutto-stuffed asparagus risotto fritto with tomato sauce (risotto balls, for short). So crispy on the outside and oozing with gooey cheese. I give these 10 heart-eye emojis.

I order the Biasali – an eager recommendation from a staff member – braised beef short rib, roasted garlic asiago cheese risotto with pizzaiolo sauce. Short ribs AND risotto, two of my favourites. The sauce is the perfect mix of spicy and savoury and the short rib is juicy and tender –I barely need a knife for this one.

Another great dish? The Limonelinguini, pancetta, roasted garlic, basil with a preserved lemon cream sauce. I love the mix of lemon with the salty pancetta.

$$$:  Price-wise, Casa hits a few different budgets. If you’re on a budget, the apps are filling enough to share and keep the bill reasonable. If you want to go all out then the mains are generally between $20 and $30 with big enough servings that guarantee leftovers (for me, anyway).

Bonus: It’s located right beside Market Square so if you want to skate off the calories, you don’t have to go far.

Keep up with Casa: Follow them on Instagram for mouthwatering food photos or Twitter for updates

*I told my husband on my way to dinner that I would order a salad (new year, new me) before I perused the menu and immediately changed my mind. #resolutionfail #casawin
