Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal is coming to The Grand!

balletsjazzdemontrealphoto5Kingston is in for a treat on April 12th! Les Ballet Jazz de Montreal will be performing at the Grand Theatre and you don’t want to miss this performance. The Grand’s Performing Arts Manager in Cultural Services Jayson Duggan shares why Kingston is so lucky to have BJM.

Can you tell me why you’re personally so excited to see their performance this year?
The  appearance of BJM on April 12th will be without a doubt a highlight of the 10th Anniversary Grand OnStage season. We have been fortunate to present many Canadian icons over the last eight months as part of our anniversary celebrations, and BJM is another outstanding example of the creative brilliance and extraordinary talent flourishing across Canada. I have had the opportunity to see this program performed by BJM and I am looking forward to the reaction and response from the Grand OnStage audience. It is definitely a show that should not to be missed!

What do you love about Ballet Jazz Montréal?
I have been fortunate to see BJM a number of times and each opportunity has made me appreciate how fresh, exciting and accessible the company can be for both veteran dance enthusiasts and those patrons that may be new to contemporary dance.

Why do you feel Kingston is lucky to have BJM perform at The Grand?
The Grand OnStage dance program strives to present a selection of National and International dance companies and dance styles throughout the year and I know that our passionate Kingston dance audiences are deeply appreciative of having BJM appearing so close to home.  I suspect that the audience will be just as excited and filled with as much anticipation to experience the performance on April 12th as the dancers will be to deliver it live on the Grand Theatre stage.

Anything else you would like to add about the performance?
I would like to ensure that everyone is aware that tickets start as low as $19.50 (plus tax and fees) and that we have deeply discounted youth and student tickets also available starting at $9.75 (plus tax and fees). All ticket holders are invited to attend the preshow “In Conversation”, hosted by our Dance Animator Melissa Mahady Wilton starting at 6:30pm, as well as, the post -performance “Talkback and Q&A” with the dancers. The company will also be offering a dance master class while in our community, as a way to further develop and encourage our local dancers.
