Kingston Christmas Gift Guide: For the Family

‘Tis the season to hit the stores for all sorts of gifts – whether it be for kids, friends, colleagues or bosses – we’re all searching for the perfect present. Thoughtful but not trying and affordable but not cheap. What better way to celebrate Kingston’s wonderful local businesses than by allowing them help you finish your holiday shopping.

I’ve picked a few of my favourite places in town and listed them under categories for Christmas shopping inspiration.

With Love and Wild Photography:
This gift is perfect for the family who need to update their photos or just love to be photographed. With Love and Wild  is incredibly talented and offers mini-sessions that capture a families love and quirks perfectly. Buy a session as a gift that will help them fill their homes with beautiful photographs. Or, better yet, book a session for them before Christmas and they will have something for their Christmas cards!

Cooke’s: This place has every food from all over the world and it is gift basket heaven. If you want a no-fuss gift with a big pay off, head to the back of the store and marvel at every combination of goodies wrapped up with coffees, chocolates, preserves and more – something for the whole family – with a wide price range.

Bread and Butter Bakery:  Any family would love a treat from this delicious family-owned bakery. They sell a gift certificate for the “pie of the month” club which means a pie a month for a year – the gift that keeps on giving! They also  have a “cooks night off gift certificate” which is 1 quiche, 1 baguette, 2 soup and 4 squares. That feeds for four people for about $30 – perfect for the busy family!

All Ways Clean: All Ways Clean is a local service that offers house cleaning as well as closet organizing, house staging and window washing! This is amazing for the family who are loaded with hockey tournaments and school trips and might appreciate a break from chores.

Hip Kids: This spot is for young families. They offer all of the fun goodies that new parents want but might not necessarily be able to afford. Treat them to the locally-made $40 onesie for their babe.

Frontenacs Game: What is more family-friendly than a sporting event? With the Belleville Bulls franchise shutdown, the Frontenac games are getting busier and the busier the sporting event the more fun!
