‘Tis the season to hit the stores for all sorts of gifts – whether it be for kids, friends, colleagues or bosses – we’re all searching for the perfect present. Thoughtful but not trying and affordable but not cheap. What better way to celebrate Kingston’s wonderful local businesses than by allowing them help you finish your holiday shopping.
I’ve picked a few of my favourite places in town and listed them under categories for Christmas shopping inspiration.
Check back every day this week for more local gift ideas!
This edition is for the sporty type in your life, sure you can get them a gift card to Lululemon or an UnderArmour t-shirt but why not contribute to their fitness regime or give them an experience?
Apex Indoor Cycling: This spin studio is filled with high-energy instructors and great music. I’ve written about my experience here and highly recommend. If you know someone who is already a member or someone who enjoys to cycle – a 10 class pass is a wonderful gift, especially since it’s getting cold out.
The Boiler Room: Rock climbing is the best! And a fun way to kick off the new year. I feel like Kingstonians forget we have this gem in town. Consider a gift card or book a class that you can appreciate together.
Samatva Yoga: Located downtown and in the west end, Samatva offers a variety of classes from hot to room temperature and beginners to intermediate. A ten class pass is a great contribution to someone’s yoga practice.
Fit 4 Life: If you know someone who wants to be whipped into shape and won’t be offended by this gift idea – get them personal training sessions to help keep their new year’s resolution on track. Fit 4 Life is locally-owned and is equipped with lots of eager trainers who are ready to encourage a fit lifestyle.
Frontenacs Game: This is for the sporty type who is more of an observer than a doer. With the Belleville Bulls franchise shutdown, the Frontenac games are getting busier and the busier the sporting event the more fun!
